11th Grade – Chemistry – Jonathan Stephens

Today’s Assignment

Students will be learning about ionic bonding in this lesson.The Next Generation Science Standard covered is HS-PS1-1: “Use the periodic table as a model to predict the relative properties of elements based on the patterns of electrons in the outermost energy level of atoms.”
The lesson should take up to an hour, but actual time needed will be based on the student’s reading ability.

Students are to read the section titled, “Lesson 20: Ionic Compounds” found on pages 98 to 102. It is encouraged to look at all text, figures, and examples for maximum comprehension.
Students are to complete all exercises either on paper or on a Google Document submitted in the assignment found on Google Classroom.
For the exercises, full sentences are required for answers to the “Reading Questions” (1 & 2) as well as number 7 of the “Reason and Apply” questions. All other questions (3 – 6) do not require full sentences, but please be sure they are answered.
