Today’s Assignment

Student’s will continue to learn about key historical figures who played important roles in the Roman Republic and Empire. Students will review Spartacus’s inspiring journey out of slavery in ancient Rome. They will also learn about the impact of Julius Caesar, Octavian and Constantine. They will understand the importance of the Colosseum, the Aqueducts and the power struggle between the patricians and plebeians, which led to the creation of the Twelve Tables of Law.
Students will READ seven short excerpts and demonstrate comprehension by answering a multiple-choice question. There is a total of 7 short reading passages with one multiple choice question for each passage. This portion of the assignment will take approximately 35 minutes (5 minutes for each passage and question) to complete.

The attachments for the Read and Respond Activity handout is posted here on this website link. Students may choose to print the Handout or use Notebook Paper to write their answers. Students may access the handout and needed information for this assignment on their Google Classroom for Social Studies. When logging on to Google Classroom, students use their school email and password.

Students may also choose to sign-in to their CLEVER account and complete the Read and Respond Activity on Flocabulary. By signing into to the Flocabulary resource they will have access to supporting video and vocabulary definitions. When logging on to CLEVER, students use their student ID number and birth date.
