11th Grade – Chemistry – Jonathan Stephens

Today’s Assignment

Students will learn about and practice naming ionic compounds. THIS IS A CONTINUATION OF WORK FROM NTI DAY 6. It is the same document as NTI Day 6.
The Next Generation Science Standards covered are HS-PS1-1: “Use the periodic table as a model to predict the relative properties of elements based on the patterns of electrons in the outermost energy level of atoms.” and HS-PS1-2 “Construct and revise an explanation for the outcome of a simple chemical reaction based on the outermost electron states of atoms, trends in the periodic table, and knowledge of the patterns of chemical properties.”

The lesson should take up to an hour, but actual time needed will be based on the student’s reading ability.

Students are to complete this activity on paper only (no Google Classroom submission). The packet may be printed and completed or students may write their answers on lined paper. The printed packet was provided in school on Wednesday, February 12. It will be available upon return to school as well.
