Today’s Assignment

The students will conduct an activity to examine models of chromosomes. They will use models of chromosomes from an imaginary Leksak bird. The students will learn the importance of genes to all living things, and that genes control all inherited traits. Chromosomes are important because they are the carriers of these genes. The Strategy: they will cut out and pair chromosome models of the Leksak bird. They will determine the type of change that occurs in the number of chromosomes when a cell divides by mitosis or meiosis. The students will complete the questions and conclusions as they navigate through the procedures and observations. The students have been given a paper copy of this activity.
