11th Grade – AP Chemistry – Jonathan Stephens

Today’s Assignment

In this lesson, students will be learning about the important chemical concept of acid-base reactions and associated calculations for titration. This is in alignment with the 2019 AP Chemistry Course and Exam Description for Topics 4.6 “Introduction to Titration”, 4.7 “Types of Chemical Reactions”, and 4.8 “Introduction to Acid-Base Reactions”.
1. Students are to use the textbook pages for the section “4.8 Acid-Base Reactions” and complete this assignment on lined paper. Review the opening text until page 141 and the Interactive Examples on pages 142 and 143.

2. Read page 144. Define the bold vocabulary words and copy down everything in the box with the heading of “Requirements for a Successful Titration”.

3. Write out Interactive Examples 4.14 and 4.15. For each one, write out the original problem. After that, write out all steps taken to solve the problem (everything not in italics).

4. Complete exercises 79, 81, and 83. Please show all work.

This assignment may take upwards of 90 minutes, which takes into consideration class time (60 minutes) and homework time (30 minutes).
