Today’s Assignment
At this point, you should have a library copy of “The Great Gatsby.” If you do not, don’t despair. It’s a classic, so there are many ways to access it for free without leaving your home. It’s available on the “Libby” library app if you have an eReader or eReading app like Kindle. I’ll also include a link to a free digital pdf of the full text and a chapter-by-chapter read-along on YouTube.
For today, read chapter one and respond in 150 to 200 words (the AP course may wish to expand a little further). For chapter one, consider the following questions in your response: This is your first exposure to the main characters and setting. How do they relate to each other? What does the setting tell you about the characters, for instance? How do the characters feel about the setting? (They tell you.) What is your initial impression of these characters and the world they live in?
